The European Development Days 2016 (EDD) marked its 10th anniversary. EDD 2016 is the first major international conference to explore ways forward to achieve the ambitious 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, the EDD overarching title was, “Sustainable Development Goals in Action: Our World, Our Dignity, our Future.”
In 2016, across 120 sessions – including high-level panels, debate labs and brainstorming sessions – more than 6000 participants discussed and debated the forum’s key themes. The themes were shaped by the ‘5 Ps’ outlined in the preamble of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda: people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership.
The spirit of development cooperation was reflected – and amplified – in the Development Village, the Cultural Programme, and the participation of Young Leaders. The EDD Global Village’s 67 stands offered participants an interactive experience, that ranged from a virtual reality tour in a Syrian refugee camp to showcasing projects. The Cultural Programme included art, photography, music and dance – all of which reflect development today and the vibrancy culture brings to communities.
Phrenos managed EDD 2016 from beginning to end, ensuring the high attendance of participants, a varied and in depth programme, expanded media coverage and social media reach as well as an enlarged Global Village and Cultural Programme, whilst managing all EDD community affairs and queries.Parallel to this, the Phrenos team was responsible for the set-up of the venue, security and catering as well as supervising all VIP arrivals and requests.
