Nicolas founded Phrenos in 2010 to offer insights-led, full-spectrum communication and event services. He has 20 years of experience in exhibition and event management and has led numerous high-profile events and summits on behalf of the European Commission (DG Regio, DV DEVCO, DG ENV), including the European Development Days (EDDs), the European Union Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo, and many more. Before founding Phrenos Nicolas also worked in the cultural sector. Nicolas holds a master’s in History from UCL, a Management Certificate from ICHEC-Entreprises, and has three daughters with his life partner Anne Sophie.

Jessica has over 10 years of experience in communications and media, with a focus on international affairs, global development issues and finance. Jessica honed her professional skills in Cambodia, initially as a freelance journalist and then as a communication expert for different local and regional organisations. Having spent 8 years in Cambodia, she also found the time to help set up an award-winning breakdancing school for street children. Since coming back to Brussels, Jessica has spent the last five years focusing on Africa and establishing media and communication strategies for international forums in Africa and Europe and working closely with the international community and the private sector. Jessica is passionate about global affairs, with a special interest in Asia and the Middle East. She graduated from King’s College London having studied War Studies & History for her BA and went on to read International Journalism at City University, London for her MA.

Alok Nandi is focusing on strategic design and creative direction for the development of Phrenos’ activities.
He is an experienced creative director and UX strategist, deploying innovation and design scenarios in multiple sectors. He has followed the waves of digital transformation for years, designing websites as of 1994 and then leading design teams for the .com presence of publishing companies in Belgium and France (Casterman, the publisher of a.o. Tintin; groupe Flammarion). He then got involved in EU funded R&D programs to explore storytelling with technologies, a.o. AR & VR installations for museums and public places. This made him co-founder of a spin-off specialised in interactive set-ups.
In 2004, he launched Architempo to explore the multiple dimensions of design: from interactive solutions to pan-european communication campaigns, from exhibitions (red dot design museum, St-Etienne Design Biennale) to interventions and conferences (chair of Interaction14 in Amsterdam, PechaKucha Nights w/ 60+ editions). Activities range from education to institutions to companies in health, transportation and food systems.
Alok Nandi’s background combines electromechanical engineering, management and film studies.
His first professional experience was brand management at Procter & Gamble.
Regular jury member (in the start-ups world as well as in new media and cinema) and invited lecturer, he is visiting professor at the Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, focusing on innovation, creativity and design with hospitality and culinary professionals.

Mariusz has over a decade of experience working as a graphic designer for a wide-range of clients. He started his career by working in communication and advertising agencies in Paris, before creating in 2011 his own company mgraphic design. In addition to specialising in design for institutional clients, Mariusz also has an extensive portfolio from working with leading commercial clients (Moët-Henessy, Cartier, Chanel, Guerlain, GDF-Suez, Veolia, Crédit Agricole…). At Phrenos, he is credited for revamping the EDD website and designing a range of graphic illustrations and products for the EU’s leading development conference. Mariusz has worked about different subjects: luxury, institutions, industry, bio-energy, ecology, politic of the cities or education. His qualities: curious, liking the new challenges, he is creative and dynamic. Mariusz holds a MA in Communication from the University of Paris 8, and a BA in Graphic Design from the École Supérieure des Arts Graphiques, Paris.

Emmanuelle has over 20 years’ experience handling a variety of clients for leading communication agencies, including Grayling, Mostra, and Hill & Knowlton as well as UNICEF and CEPS (Center for European Policy Studies) . She has led multilingual teams to deliver pan-EU projects for DG ENV, DG Enlargement, DG Mare, DG EMPL, DG Regio, DG Research, and has worked for private clients ranging from the Hilton, Vins de Bordeaux, BT, Mattel and trade associations Eurofer, Unesda, Apeal, and the European Osteoporosis Association. She began her career as a radio journalist, working for France 2 and the European Council of Ministers. Emmanuelle graduated with a ‘Maîtrise’ in Aesthetics (philosophy of art) with a focus on communication and linguistics from the University Panthéon-Sorbonne in Paris.

Emmanuel manages the European Development Days Programme team, which he joined in 2015. He was previously coordinating the EDD Global Village and the EDD 2016 Cultural programme. In addition to the EDD, he organised the 2017 Climathon in Tallinn, was the logistical coordinator for the Youth Plug-In Initiative in Abidjan and Brussels. He also coordinated the 59th European Judicial Network Meeting in Amsterdam. Before joining Phrenos, he worked as a parliamentary assistant to a Belgian member of parliament and also worked in Nigeria as an intern for an NGO specialised in malaria prevention and control. He also volunteered as a first-aid responder for the Belgian Red Cross.
Emmanuel has a BA in Political Science and a Masters in Development Studies. For his master’s degree, his thesis focused on relief agencies and complex emergency interventions.

Jimmy graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Masters in Commercial Engineering (specialisation in Finance) from the Haute Ecole Francisco Ferrer in 2015. Over the years, he has worked in sectors ranging from real estate to textiles. He was a marketing manager for a prestigious diamond company in Antwerp, and a project manager for the biggest housing project to date in Belgium’s Walloon Brabant province. At Phrenos, he is responsible for nance and administration as well as project coordination. Jimmy is also a humanitarian aid volunteer, building housing for marginalised communities in India. Jimmy was in charge of the nancial control and the expenditure veri cation report for the EDD 2017 and 2018 editions.

Daniele joined the Programme Team of the European Development Days in 2016; he now oversees the programme for the EDD 2018 and ensures the high quality of the deliverables of the Programme Team (both internal and public). Previously, he was the responsible for the EDD Young Leaders Programme – an initiative for young people from across the world to have their say at the EDD. In addition to the EDD, he has coordinated the AU-EU Youth Plug-In Initiative in Brussels, Addis Ababa and Abidjan, coaching 36 young people in writing recommendations to high-level leaders and suggesting new ideas for a renewed AU-EU partnership. Faithful to his problem-solving attitude, he is also Phrenos’ first point of contact for all IT matters. Prior to joining Phrenos, Daniele worked for several think tanks and international organisations on EU projects on international development, EU-Asia relations and democracy. Daniele holds a masters degree in Afro-Asian Studies (International Relations/Development Studies) from the University of Pavia (Italy).

Yalchin has experience working in Event Management for international organisations and the private sector, including the Council of Europe and the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank. Yalchin studied political science, European studies and European law in Baku, Strasbourg, Nancy and Bruges. He is currently studying for a PhD in political science and nationalism at the Free University of Brussels (ULB).

Steve Diamant is Phrenos’ communications officer. He is an energetic individual originally from Brussels. Steve has always been a passionate about communications and the development of human capital. Studying communication was thus a natural choice for him. What fascinates him the most about communication is the ability to create unique experiences. He specialized in interactive media studies at the Inter Disciplinary Center in Tel aviv, where he learned the mindset of entrepreneurship and also got Inbound Marketing certified. Steve then worked in Geneva as Junior Project Coordinator for the eBusiness Institute (Nestle’s main partner in their digital transformation journey) and also worked as a freelancer in Berlin. Curious, Steve loves to constantly be challenged and is constantly in the mindset of learning new things and skills.

Young blood here! Louis is a multidisciplinary creative with various skills: photo editing, edition, 3D, motion design, branding, Ui/Ux design, packaging. He picks in his skills palette what suits you best to tell your story. After graduating from College of Advertising and Design, Louis started his (young) career as an art director in advertising agencies working for a wide range of clients (KBC, CBC, Renault, Facq, Multipharma, Spontex, Equidia…) and then joined Phrenos in 2017 in search for concrete meaning for his work. Louis is also a graphic designer for various musical projects.
